Disability and Adaptive Sports Organization Resources, Wheelchair Resources, and Sports Equipment Resources

This page tells you about where to find adaptive sports organizations and resources for financial support for wheelchairs and other disability equipment, and also resources for specialized equipment like handcycles, racing chairs and basketball wheelchairs. In addition to the resources below, Kiwanis, Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, Shriners, United Way and/or other community organizations may help fund sport equipment. WHEELCHAIR AND EQUIPMENT/ACCESORIES/PARTS RESOURCES

iSACRA offers a postage reimbursement for equipment exchange up to $25 per item, with some exceptions. Check with the iSACRA board for more information at contact@isacra.org

The local Spina Bifida Organizations in your state may have equipment loan closets where you can obtain free items including crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs

Handcycles an adoptive bikes

Road Runner Sports, grant for free handcycle for SA/CRS kids in the USA, most appropriate for kids over age 7.

This is a very easy grant to complete and not based on income. You do need to show a photo of your child and somehow verify that the child could use the equipment. If you can’t get a photo of your child on a handcycle, contact Phyllis.Rogers@isacra.org for assistance.  She can also help you complete the grant application.  This is an awesome organization that delivers a brand new handcycle to your doorstep in a short time at no cost.

BASKETBALL WHEELCHAIRS 


Very often the sports organizations, the individual wheelchair basketball teams have loaner equipment for their athletes. Contact the individual teams for more resources.

RACING WHEELCHAIRS

SLEDS FOR SLED HOCKEY

Individual teams usually provide loaner equipment. Check with the team once you have joined.

SIT-SKI EQUIPMENT

Check with the ski facility. There are many with adaptive ski programs and they have loaner equipment.
