Following initial X-rays or MRIs related to diagnosis
- At what level does my child’s spine end?
- At what level does my child’s spinal cord end?
- What is the Renshaw classification of my child?
- What physical structures are impacted? (organs, legs, heart, etc.)
- Are there any additional syndromes or conditions present?
- Do you have experience with individuals who have this condition?
- What kinds of follow up appointments should I expect?
Considerations for surgery:
- What are the pre-surgical procedures?
- What is the post surgical recovery time?
- When can my child return to school?
- What is the anticipated stay in the hospital?
- What are the potential complications?
- What considerations have been given to the unique physical structures that my child may have due to SA/CRS? Should additional ultra-sounds, MRI’s or xrays be done to ensure that physical structures are where they are expected to be?
- What is the anticipated outcome?
- What kinds of issues might I see that indicate a problem with recovery or in the future?
- What are the long term implications?
- What pain might my child experience and what is the pain treatment plan?
- When will the post op. visit take place? Has it been pre-scheduled?
- Will you be present and available to respond during the length of the recovery period in case there are any complications?
